Editorial Policy

Health Highroad’s editorial policy governs how we research, create, review, and maintain health content. This document describes the standards and processes our editorial team follows to ensure the accuracy, integrity, and usefulness of every article we publish.

Last reviewed and updated: February 2026

Our Editorial Mission

Health Highroad publishes evidence-based health information for educational purposes. Our goal is to help readers understand health topics through accurate, well-sourced, and clearly written content. We do not provide medical advice, diagnose conditions, or recommend specific treatments. Readers should consult qualified healthcare professionals for medical decisions.

Content Standards

How do we ensure accuracy?

All health claims in our articles must be supported by credible sources. Acceptable primary sources include peer-reviewed medical journals (The Lancet, JAMA, NEJM, BMJ, etc.), government health agencies (WHO, CDC, NIH, NHS, EMA), academic medical institutions, and clinical practice guidelines from recognized medical societies. Secondary sources such as health news outlets may be used for context but not as sole evidence for medical claims.

How do we handle medical content?

Articles covering diagnoses, treatments, medications, or clinical procedures are held to heightened standards. These articles must cite primary clinical sources, include appropriate medical disclaimers, avoid definitive treatment recommendations, and present balanced information about risks and benefits. We clearly distinguish between established medical consensus and emerging or preliminary research.

How do we attribute information?

Every article carries a visible author byline. Sources are cited within the article text or in a references section. Direct quotes from experts are attributed by name and credentials. When we reference studies, we include sufficient detail for readers to locate the original research.

Editorial Process

Research and Writing

Our writers research topics using medical databases, institutional publications, and expert commentary. Articles are drafted following our internal style guide, which requires clear language, proper source citation, and avoidance of sensationalized claims.

Review and Approval

Content undergoes editorial review before publication. Reviewers check factual accuracy, source quality, medical appropriateness, and readability. Articles that do not meet our standards are returned for revision or rejected.

Publication

Approved articles are published with the author’s byline, publication date, and category classification. Articles are added to our XML sitemap and submitted to search engines for indexing.

Content Updates and Auditing

Health information evolves as new research emerges. Our editorial team conducts periodic content audits to identify articles requiring updates. When an article is substantively revised, the modification date is updated and an editorial note may be added indicating the nature of the update. Minor corrections (typos, broken links) do not require editorial notes.

Corrections Policy

What happens when we make an error?

We take factual errors seriously. When an error is identified — whether by our team, readers, or external review — we correct it promptly. Significant corrections are noted within the article. Minor corrections are made without notation. Readers can report errors by emailing [email protected].

Independence and Disclosures

Is our content independent?

Editorial decisions at Health Highroad are made independently of commercial interests. Advertisers and sponsors do not influence article topics, conclusions, or recommendations. When content includes affiliate links or sponsored elements, this is clearly disclosed to readers.

How do we handle conflicts of interest?

Writers and editors are expected to disclose potential conflicts of interest related to topics they cover. Product review articles include disclosure of whether products were provided for review purposes.

User-Generated Content

Reader comments are not moderated for medical accuracy and should not be considered health advice. We reserve the right to remove comments that contain misinformation, harmful content, or violate our community guidelines.
